WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – New Amazon series The Runarounds is set to begin filming Thursday, July 18, in Wilmington, according to the city.

According to Amazon, The Runarounds will be an eight-episode series that “follows a tight-knit group of young adults from all walks of life who come together to form a rock band the summer after graduating from high school.”

Created by Jonas Pate, cocreator of Outer Banks, the project will be produced by Skydance Television with teleplay from David Wilcox.

Pate will also serve as an executive producer, alongside Outer Banks cocreators Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. David Wilcox, Joon Yun, Lisa Mae Fincannon, Scott Lambert, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell have also been named as executive producers.

“Against the backdrop of Wilmington, North Carolina, The Runarounds will have to choose between succumbing to the pressures of real life, or risking it all to become the greatest band of all time,” the Amazon adds.

On July 18, crews are scheduled to film on the front lawn of New Hanover High School.
