WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Cleanup continues in several communities after rains from Tropical Storm Debby left many areas flooded.
In the Ogden area of New Hanover County, neighbors had to find a way around a closed road after a tree fell and damaged part of a pipe underneath Dove Field Drive.
On Aug. 23, the NCDOT reopened Dove Field Drive after closures earlier in the week.
It’s been a lengthy process for both NCDOT and neighbors on Dove Field Drive. The heavy rain started to cause flooding just like many neighborhoods around town, it wasn’t until Saturday, Aug. 17, that crews closed the street and put up barriers.
Once the road cleared crews saw the real damage, a tree ripped down and dirt and gravel on either side of the road washed into the creek, leaving utility lines exposed and affected a crossline pipe underneath the road.
