WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The State Board of Elections on July 16 decided to recognize the We The People Party of North Carolina as an official political party.

With this, voters will now be able to register with eight parties: Democratic, Republican, Constitution, Green, Libertarian, No Labels, We The People, or unaffiliated. Voters can also switch to be affiliated with the We The People Party, and you can learn how to do that here.

The party’s nominations are Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for President, Nicole Shanahan for Vice President, and Jeff Scott for N.C. Senate District 40 and Mark Ortiz for Rowan County Commissioner.

Until voter registration applications are updated to include the new option, voters can register by checking the “other” box and writing “We The People”.
