MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The quick actions made by two Myrtle Beach police officers and a Myrtle Beach firefighter may have saved a man from drowning.
Myrtle Beach police and firefighters responded around 7:30 a.m. Saturday to Center South and South Kings Highway after receiving multiple calls about a car that had driven into a retention pond.
The driver wasn’t able to get out of his car because his prosthetic leg was stuck under the pedals.
Myrtle Beach Police Department Beach Patrol Officers PFC. John Lively and PFC Daniele Loizzi, along with Myrtle Beach firefighter Wyatt Lloyd, quickly put together an action plan to save the driver.
“During the rescue, the vehicle began to rapidly sink, but the First Responders freed the driver and pulled him through the window before it sank entirely,” the Myrtle Beach Police Department said in a post.
The department thanked everyone involved in the rescue and said their actions very well may have saved the man’s life.
