WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – On July 3, the judge declared a mistrial in the case of Uriah Butcher, a man charged with accessory after the fact in a shooting at Bennett Village Apartments back in Nov. 2021, according to District Attorney Ben David.

19-year-old Quashawn Pearsall was killed in the shooting, and Ahmad Tate is charged with first-degree murder in Pearsall’s death.

Judge Jones said that he was found guilty of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny, and he was found not guilty of felony conspiracy in the murder case. The state plans to retry on the outstanding charges.

Tate and his girlfriend Regina Davis, who was charged with accessory after the fact, are set to have trials beginning July 15.
