WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – District Attorney Ben David’s office has announced that 20-year-old Damon Stackhouse from Wilmington pleaded guilty last week to second degree murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

Per the DA, he was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 22, to 324-413 months (27-34 years) in prison.

Jalin Tilghman-Deablo was allegedly shot 16 times and killed by three people in front of New Hanover Village Apartments on Sept. 22, 2022. They were seen driving away in a car that was tracked down by detectives. It was linked to Ja’Tavian Hanible and found in front of co-defendant Jaquan Smith’s house on Ann Street.

Four people were found inside along with three guns that were ballistically linked to the shooting, and the DA’s office says one of the guns was fired at least seven times and contained Stackhouse’s DNA along with one of the bullet casings found at the crime scene.

The cases for the other defendants, Smith Hanible and Labron Pryor, are pending.
