WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A man was cut by the propeller on a pontoon boat while attempting to throw the anchor on Saturday, July 11, according to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

Officials say that the incident happened at around 11 a.m. at the Mason Inlet, and it is believed to be a freak accident.

He is now recovering in the hospital.

The incident is under investigation, per the NC WRC.
