Man convicted for fleeing arrest in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Julius Lashawn Brown from Southport pled guilty on Aug. 13 to charges in connection to a law enforcement chase that forced 80+ cars off the road in Brunswick County, according to District Attorney Jon David’s Office.

Per the DA, Brown was sentenced to 68-92 months in prison for the charge of felony flee to elude arrest.

“Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Brown in his vehicle for suspicion of drug offenses in front the Walmart on Highway 211 in Southport. Brown fled west for 13 miles at speeds over 120mph while forcing at least 80 cars off the road and illegally passing an ambulance that had its emergency lights activated. A search of his vehicle by the deputies revealed cocaine scattered around Brown and a set of digital scales,” an announcement states.
