WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) – A man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Summer Addison on July 13 in Whiteville.

Jordon Jyreke Irvin Williams was arrested at Five Points in Chadbourn without incident on Sunday, July 14, at about 1:30 p.m. and charged with murder and first-degree burglary. He is being held at the county jail without bond.

Per the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 976 Sunset Terrace at about 7:30 p.m. in connection to a home invasion and shooting. The sheriff’s office says they found Addison’s boyfriend, and he showed them to a bedroom where he found Addison with a gunshot wound. She was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center but passed away from her injuries.

According to the CCSO, Addison called her boyfriend in distress and he heard his grandson, Williams, threatening her and demanding money.

“Mr. Ford then heard gunshots over the phone and rushed home. Armed with a crowbar, Mr. Ford found Ms. Addison injured and learned that Mr. Williams had shot her. Mr. Ford also revealed that earlier that morning, Mr. Williams appeared intoxicated, so Mr. Ford asked Mr. Williams to leave the residence. During a heated argument, Mr. Williams started to leave, threatening to return. Shortly after he left, gunshots were fired into the home, leaving multiple bullet holes,” a CCSO announcement states.

The CCSO says witnesses said that Williams returned to the home, forced entry, and shot Addison, and spent shell casings were found inside and outside. Williams was arrested the next day.
