NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged 44-year-old Luat Van Tran in connection to a stabbing on Wednesday, June 19.

Pre the NHCSO, the incident took place on Covey Lane in the Murrayville area at around 9:28 p.m.

A sheriff’s office representative says he got drunk and stabbed his brother, and his brother was taken to the hospital.

He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, injury to personal property, resist/delay/obstruct public officers and is currently being held at the county jail.

The District Attorney’s Office confirmed he appeared in court this afternoon and his bond is set at $510,000.

There is no word so far on the extent of his brother’s injuries.
