WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A man was arrested on Monday, June 24, after allegedly discarding a firearm near a garbage can.
At around 11:45 p.m. on Emory Street, officers approached three individuals who were seen loitering and the three left and ignored commands to stop.
“As officers caught up to the subjects and were talking with two of them, another man, 19-year-old Damien Kinlaw discarded a firearm near a garbage can. During a search of Mr. Kinlaw, officers also located narcotics. Following an initial investigation, it was determined that the firearm was stolen,” WPD wrote in a press release.
Kinlaw has been charged with felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance, carrying concealed weapon-gun, and felony possession of a stolen firearm.
He is being held under a $25,000 secured bond.
