TAR HEEL, N.C. (WECT) – A man has been arrested after a call identified him allegedly breaking and entering into multiple vehicles at a tire shop in Tar Heel on June 17.

The caller told Bladen County 911 that the suspect was still in the area and provided a clear vehicle and clothing description. Officers soon found Christopher Darryle Hawkins, 49 of Fayetteville at a nearby gas station. An investigation began immediately and video footage showed Hawkins committing the crimes.

On June 17th, 2024, Bladen County 911 received a call regarding the Breaking and Entering of multiple vehicles at a Tire Shop in Tar Heel. The caller advised that the suspect was still in the area and gave a clear vehicle and clothing description of the suspect. Officers quickly responded and were able to locate the suspect at a nearby gas station. An immediate investigation began and video footage was received which showed the suspect committing the crimes alleged.

Hawkins was charged with six counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, property damage, felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held under a $250,000 secured bond.
