WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As Debby continues to impact southeastern North Carolina, there are steps residents can take to ensure their electronics are ready in case of an emergency.

Jessica Holt, with UScellular, spoke with WECT about the steps to take to make sure devices are storm ready.

“Charge up your phones, your tablets, portable chargers, everything, just in case the power is out for a long time,” Holt said. “There is a power safe mode that you can turn on so apps that are not running in the background, they will stop, just to make your phone lasts longer. And you know, talking about your phone, using it as best as you can: if you cannot make a phone call, sending a text message goes through a lot better because it uses less bandwidth.”
