WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Elle Graham, 11, landed a starring role in Secrets of Sulphur Springs, a new Disney Channel series that premieres Fri., Jan. 15 at 8 p.m.
It is just the latest project for the young actress from Hampstead, who has already shared the screen with big-name actors, including Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence.
“This is the first show that I’ve ever done with kids and I love the show so much,” Graham said. “Every script that we get, I just want to read more. And I love the set and the crew. It’s just awesome.”
Secrets of Sulphur Springs is the first-of-its-kind series for Disney Channel, billed as a time-travel mystery that is family friendly.
“It’s about a family that moved to a haunted hotel and it’s supposedly haunted by me and all of the adventures that we have in between,” Graham said.
Graham said it is spooky but appropriate for all ages.
“There’s a little jump scares here and there,” she said. “You’ll probably feel creeped out.”
Production paused at the start of the pandemic but crews were able to resume filming with COVID-19 precautions.
“We had a lot of procedures,” she said. “You had to wear your mask every time of the day until you’re actually doing the scene. So, my mom had to wear her mask all the time unless we were in our own trailer. There were these little glass cubes that we couldn’t go out of them. They handled it great.”
The pre-teen’s mom is her number one fan and supporter, driving her to auditions and on the set with her when she lands a role.
“She is happy as she’s ever been,” said Emily Graham, Elle’s mom.
“She’s the best!” said Graham of her mom. “I love her. She’s always with me through all of my shows and she always helps me out.”
Graham got her start in commercial acting when she was 3 years old. Her first movie role came when she was only 4.
She most recently appeared as a heavily recurring guest star in Swamp Thing. Her other television credits include The Walking Dead, The Originals and Stranger Things. Her film credits include Captive, Mile 22 opposite Mark Wahlberg and Trial by Fire.
