WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington woman got a new set of wheels Wednesday while helping a local nonprofit at the same time.

Sandra Lewis claimed her new 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage at D&E Mitsubishi in Wilmington.

The car was the top prize in the second annual Cruisin’ for Kids Charity Car Raffle.

The event, which is held by Wilmington’s Residential Adolescent Achievement Place, is designed to help raise funds for non-profits and community-based organizations.

“I’m still in awe,” Lewis said Wednesday as she sat in her new car. “I’ve never won anything and then to be the winner of a car… This is amazing.”

Yesha Leggett of Lauirnburg won the second-place prize of $1,000 while Mark Riell of Raleigh won the third-place prize of $500.
