WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The 18-year-old suspect charged with first-degree murder in connection with last weekend’s deadly shooting in Wilmington will continue to be jailed under no bond.
Quaymir Conyers made a brief first court appearance on the murder charge Tuesday afternoon where a judge denied him bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for Feb. 18.
Wilmington police say Conyers fatally shot Parish McNeil, 31, in the 1100 block of Campbell Street around 1 p.m. Sunday. McNeil was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where was pronounced dead.
Police say the two men were related and described the incident that led to the deadly shooting as “domestic in nature.” No other details were released.
Conyers surrendered to police Monday afternoon.
This was the city’s first homicide of 2021.
