By WECT Staff | January 12, 2021 at 1:38 PM EST – Updated January 12 at 4:20 PM

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A driver in Wilmington says he had a medical emergency before crashing into the side of a doctors office Tuesday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, the crash happened around 12:35 p.m. at a building located at 1415 Medical Center Drive.

The driver said he blacked out, likely due to high blood pressure, before his car veered off the road nearly hitting a tree before striking the building.

No injuries were reported.

Police with New Hanover Regional Medical Center are investigating the crash since it involved a hospital building. A spokesperson for the hospital says no charges are expected at this time.
