WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The NCDOT has completed an emergency inspection and a westbound lane of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge has reopened to traffic Wednesday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the DOT said a “piece of equipment” hit the bridge tender’s house and lift span Wednesday morning. While the damage wasn’t serious, it was enough to warrant an emergency inspection, which started at 1 p.m. and wrapped up around 4:20 p.m.
Crews made some minor repairs to the bridge tender’s house, the spokeswoman said.
