WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – One northbound and one southbound lane on Market Street were closed Tuesday afternoon due to a gas leak, according to New Hanover County Fire Rescue.

The agency tweeted around 1:50 p.m. that crews are responding to the leak which was reported in the area of Greenview Drive and Market Street.

A fire official at the scene said a construction crew caused the leak after striking a six-inch gas line. A second leak was also detected by crews.

As of 3:30 p.m., both leaks have been repaired and all lanes on Market Street are expected to reopen soon.
