Former Pender Co. Commissioner appointed to UNCW Board of Trustees

RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) – Former Pender County Commissioner Dr. Jimmy Tate has been appointed to the UNCW Board of Trustees.
The State Senate unanimously approved Tate’s appointment to fill the unexpired term of Michael Lee, who was elected to the senate in 2020.
The appointment is effective March 24 and Tate will serve until June 30, 2023.
Tate currently serves as the President of Mt. Calvary University, a Christian-centered university in southeastern North Carolina. He served two terms on Pender County Board of Commissioners before resigning in 2015 to move to Duplin County to join the administration of James Sprunt Community College.
