Southport Fire Department mourning unexpected loss

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – According to a post on the Southport Fire Department Facebook page, the Department is mourning the loss of FF/AEMT Tyler Johnson who, according to the post, died unexpectedly.
Per the announcement on Facebook, Johnson played a significant role with the department, at one point serving as the Chief of the Volunteer Rescue Squad. Johnson was also the EMS Deputy Chief when the Southport EMS and Fire Departments merged services.

Prior to joining the department in Southport, Johnson was with the Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Department.
There is no mention of funeral services, only that the Chief is in contact with the family.
