EVERGREEN, N.C. (WECT) – A second suspect has been arrested in connection to the theft of thousands of dollars from a Columbus County campground earlier this year.
Robert Allen Freeman, 48, was arrested Saturday and charged in connection to a break-in at the Lumber River Campground on May 6.
Teddy Peppers, 54, previously was arrested and charged in the case on May 31.
Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a break-in and theft on May 6 at the campground located at 429 Tar Landing in Evergreen.
Officials say the suspects entered the campground’s office building and removed a large wooden box containing nearly $10,000 in rental fees.
According to the sheriff’s office, Freeman and Peppers were identified as suspects through surveillance video.
