WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – David Rouzer, who is looking to serve a fifth term in the House of Representatives, advanced to the general election with a decisive win in the Republican primary for Representative of the Seventh District Tuesday night.
“I’m proud of this decisive election victory and thank the voters of the Seventh Congressional District for their continued support,” Rouzer said in a statement Tuesday night. “Today’s turnout should send a strong message to liberal elites in Washington — Republican enthusiasm is strong and voters are looking for solutions and leaders who put American families first.
“As we head into November, we will continue focusing on the issues that impact our families most: staggering inflation, a fragile economy, standing up for our law enforcement, securing our border, and producing more American energy to lower the price at the pump.”
BLADEN COUNTY
Sheriff
Jim McVicker, who is running for a third term as sheriff of Bladen County, led the way in the unofficial results in the Republican primary Tuesday night.
The vote totals are unofficial until they are canvassed by county elections officials.
McVicker, who had almost 88 percent of the vote, will take on Democratic winner Hakeem Brown, who had 89 percent of the vote in his primary against Guy W. Childress.
McVicker defeated Brown in the general election in 2018.
Board of Commissioners
In the Bladen County Commissioners Republican primary in District 2, incumbent Charles Ray Peterson led challenger Dawson Singletary, 827-383.
School Board
In the unofficial results for the Bladen County Board of Education County-Wide Democratic primary, Vince Rozier led with 1,120 votes, followed by Cory Singletary (843) and Harfel Davis (435).
In the District 2 Republican primary, Mackie Singletary led the way with 657 votes to finish ahead of Ben Lee (288) and Berry Lewis (259).
Brunswick County
Board of Commissioners
Incumbent Marty Cooke won the Republican primary for District 2 with 45 percent of the vote with all precincts reporting Tuesday night.
The vote totals are unofficial until they are canvassed by county elections officials.
Board of Education
In the Republican primary for District 3, incumbent Robin Moffitt earned 64 percent of the vote.
Moffitt will face Bill Flythe in November.
In the Republican primary for District 5, Steve Gainey edged Randy Fennell, 6,379 votes to 6,088.
Gainey now will face Cameron Hankins in the general election.
Columbus County
Board of Commissioners
In the District 1 Democratic primary for the Board of Commissioners, Barbara Roseboro Featherson defeated Jerome McMillan, 371-327,
In the Republican primary in District 7, Scott S. Floyd led all vote-getters with 45 percent of the vote.
Sheriff
Jason Soles, a former captain with the sheriff’s office who also worked with the Tabor City and Whiteville police departments, defeated Victor Jacobs with 63 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary.
Soles will face incumbent Sheriff Jody Greene in the general election.
Pender County
Sheriff
Incumbent Alan Cutler moved a step closer to reelection with 54 percent of the vote in the Republican primary Tuesday night.
The vote totals are unofficial until they are canvassed by county elections officials.
Board of Commissioners
In District 1, Jimmy Tate led the way with 3,117 votes to 2,750 votes for Joe Cina in the Republican primary.
In the Republican primary for District 3, Jerry D. Groves defeated incumbent George R. Brown with 63 percent of the vote.
