Renowned motivational speaker inspires teachers with his story

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Nationally recognized motivational speaker Chad Porter shared his story with teachers at Carolina Beach Elementary School Friday to help them face challenges brought on by the pandemic.

“So really, just kind of through my story and sharing some of the things that I’ve been able to get through, [I will] hopefully shed a little bit of inspiration for them to be able to keep fighting through this,” said Porter. “It’s not going to last forever, and we just got to do what’s best for the kids…do what’s best for the community, and we’ll get through this together.”

Back in 1991, Chad suffered a serious injury from a boating accident that caused him to lose his left leg, which put his life on a temporary hold.

Today, he shared his story of recovery and perseverance with teachers to encourage them through the difficulties they face right now teaching their students during a pandemic. He says, while he can’t imagine what teachers have been through, he understands their frustration.

“We worry and we stress, and we have anxiety about things, but there’s no reason to worry until those things happen. You’ll have plenty of time to worry at that point. Just try to remember to just focus on the positive things in your life. There are so many things we have, so many blessings that we have, so I really just encourage people to remember those things.”
