Pender County Sheriff’s Office: Homicide victims died from gunshot wounds

By WECT Staff | November 9, 2020 at 9:23 AM EST – Updated November 10 at 5:26 PM

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Two people found dead in the Maple Hill area Sunday were shot, the Pender County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. Authorities are still waiting on autopsy results to officially confirm cause of death.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to an emergency medical call at 417 John Pickett Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, deputies found two people deceased at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as Destiny Denise Greene, 22, who was seven months pregnant, and her boyfriend, William Lenwood Coley III, 26.

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday they do not believe that the incident was a murder-suicide. They are actively looking for the suspect or suspects who are responsible for this crime, and are asking for information from the public. They did not share any details about a possible motive.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Det. Sgt. Mark Lobel at 910-259-1212.
