WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Two men have been arrested and charged with stealing various heavy-duty equipment and vehicles following a joint investigation by the Wilmington Police Department and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release, from Feb. 28 to March 20, the two agencies were investigating multiple larceny cases where the suspects were stealing tractors, trailers, four-wheelers, side by side ATVs, and lawn equipment.
On March 25, detectives were conducting surveillance on a Dodge Ram truck that was occupied by John Sealey and Kelvin Sealey. The truck pulled onto College Road with a trailer loaded with two golf carts.
Detective conducted a traffic stop at North College Road and Shelley Drive and say Kelvin Sealey jumped from the truck and ran away. He was later apprehended in the Kings Grant area.
The pair are facing a combined 28 charges including felony larceny, felony conspiracy, injury to real property, and trespassing.
John Sealey was booked into jail under a $400,000 bond while Kelvin Sealey was given a $270,000 bond.
