WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington Police Department have identified the man hurt in Saturday’s shooting as 21-year-old Jordin Stimpson, who accidentally fired a gun at himself.
The WPD says officers responded to the intersection of North 2nd and Princess streets Saturday at around 1:18 a.m. in response to a shots fired call. In a follow up release, they write that Stimpson shot himself accidentally while inside a vehicle.
Officers found Stimpson on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The WPD charged Stimpson with Discharging a Firearm within the City Limits and Resist/Delay/Obstruct an Investigation.
