Police identify victims in weekend shooting at American Legion in Wallace

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wallace Police Department has identified the victims in a weekend shooting at American Legion that left one man dead and two others injured.

According to police, Sabeian Mathis, 20, of Rose Hill, died from a single gunshot wound, while Jarmmell Faison, 45, and Samuel Melvin, 26, both of Warsaw, had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say approximately 30 shots were fired during an incident at a private party being held at the American Legion late Saturday night.

Additionally, four vehicles and the American Legion building were struck by gunfire.
