Oak Island police say lookout for counterfeit bills after recent arrest

OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Oak Island Police Department asks that you check for markings on bills after a man was arrested for allegedly using fake money.

According to a post on Facebook, Robert Midgley was arrested recently on 11 felony charges for allegedly “passing this funny money.”

The post says movie money is being bought online and used at businesses.

You’re asked to check money for markings that indicate it’s not legal.
