Domestic shooting incident

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A domestic incident ended with one person in the hospital with a gunshot wound Saturday night. It happened at the North Chase Apartments in New Hanover County, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
Details are limited at this time but we do know at some point around 7:15 p.m. Saturday a women, believed to be the ex-girlfriend of someone at the apartment showed up to the home and forced her way inside. Then, the woman produced a gun and there was a struggle for it.
The gun went off and struck the woman in the leg, she is now at the hospital according to the sheriff’s office and the incident is believed to be self-inflicted at this time.
There is no ongoing threat to residents and at this time there are no charges pending for either party involved, according to law enforcement.
