Carolina Beach police arrest three teens after search, one suspect still unaccounted for

June 20, 2022 By WECT

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Law enforcement began a search after four teenagers jumped from a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of the Dolphin Bay subdivision on Monday afternoon. Three of the teens were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, but the fourth has not been found.

Carolina Beach police received a report of a larceny in progress at 3:54 p.m., according to Sgt. C.E. Edens, public information officer for the Carolina Beach Police Department. The car the suspects were in was stolen from Charlotte. Edens says police spotted the vehicle on the Snows Cut bridge and attempted to stop the driver who crashed into a traffic sign. Four teens in the vehicle jumped out and ran.

Two of the four suspects were caught early in the search. They were both caught in the Dolphin Bay neighborhood. A third was apprehended just north of N. Seabreeze, according to Edens. The fourth suspect is still outstanding and was last seen in the area of Cypress Island Drive and River Road. A police release said that the suspects range in age from approximately 14 to 18.

Carolina Beach police, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s department, the State Highway Patrol and SABLE were involved in the search.
