LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – Multiple agencies responded to a call at the Hawthorne Waterside apartments in Leland.
Leland Police Chief Jeremy Humphries says they got a call for someone in distress. Law enforcement arrived on scene shortly before 6 p.m. and then evacuated some of the apartment complex.
A person barricaded themselves in a unit and Chief Humphries says they were having a mental health crisis. This person is now in custody to be treated.
The Leland Police Department and Cape Fear Regional Special Teams were the agencies on scene.
