WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – No charges will be filed after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Shipyard Boulevard Wednesday morning.

According to a spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, a 50-year-old man was crossing Shipyard Boulevard near Wilmington Fire Department Station 5 when he was hit by a truck near the center lane around 6:40 a.m.

The victim was dead by the time law enforcement arrived at the scene.

The WPD’s Traffic Unit is still investigating the accident, however, no charges will be filed against the driver. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Officials say neither drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
