Family displaced, dog killed in Sunday morning house fire in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington Fire Department says a family was displaced and a dog killed following a Sunday morning house fire in New Hanover County.
According to a spokeswoman for the WFD, the fire was reported around 10 a.m. in the 4900 block of Rye Lane in the Kings Grant neighborhood.
As crews arrived at the scene, smoke and flames were visible. Three adults and one child made it safely outside of the home, but the family’s dog died in the fire.
The fire caused an unspecified amount of damage to the home and the Red Cross will be assisting the family.
New Hanover County Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of the fire.
