WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A driver will not be charged after “clipping” a 13-year-old girl who was running along South Kerr Avenue toward a bus stop Monday morning, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Jessica Williams, a spokeswoman for the police department, said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Kerr Avenue around 7:50 a.m. after receiving a call about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Police say the teen had been running along South Kerr Avenue, heading to a bus stop when she decided to turn and run across the roadway. As she turned into the roadway, a vehicle “clipped” the girl and caused minor injuries to her hand.
She was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Williams said the driver will not face charges since the teen crossed the roadway where there was no crosswalk or traffic light.
