BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Deputies are searching for a man who reportedly fired gunshots from a vehicle at passing cars on a Bladen County road on Monday.
According to a spokesperson for the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, the man was hanging out the window of a small, black car — possibly a Honda — and shooting at cars on N.C. 87 near Mooretown Road in East Arcadia, heading toward Wilmington.
One victim posted on Facebook saying “I heard gun shots coming from right beside me, ducked back to avoid getting shot as a bullet grazed my driver side window within a foot of my head.”
The first report came in shortly after the incident, and another later Monday evening. The second report was a similar situation, although the victim was traveling West on Highway 87 as the suspect fired rounds while traveling East.
At least two vehicles were hit in the windshield by the gunfire, the spokesperson said.
Officials say they’re treating both of these shootings as one incident since they happened around the same time and location.
No injuries have been reported.
Investigators are pushing for the community to speak up: “we’re gonna ask residents and see if anyone has outside cameras, and things of that nature. We will be diligent in our investigation,” said Bladen County Sheriff James McVicker.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 862-6960.
