WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) – The Columbus County Health Department announced Thursday it would no longer provide bi-weekly COVID-19 updates of positive tests, active cases, recoveries and deaths and would instead share the NCDHHS COVID-19 dashboard.
The news release stated the reason was because the Health Department had been dealing with a surge of COVID-19 cases over the last three weeks.
In place of the bi-weekly updates, the Health Department will periodically provide updates on the number of recoveries in Columbus County.
Because of the widespread community transition, public health officials urge residents to continue to take protective measures by practicing the three Ws: wear a mask over your nose and mouth; wait six feet apart; and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
