PERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – A missing baby who was at the center of an AMBER Alert in North Carolina has been found safe in Virginia.
Officials say 1-year-old Gabriel Newman was abducted out of Person County, North Carolina Thursday night.
On Friday, officials confirmed that Gabriel was found safe in Danville, Virginia.
The suspected abductor, identified as Gregory Wendell Newman, is Gabriel’s father. Gregory Newman has been charged with larceny of a stolen vehicle and probation violation.
Officials say more charges are pending.
Deputies previously said Gabriel may have been in danger based on past statements Gregory made to Gabriel’s mother.
Previous information stated they were on NC Highway 57 headed towards Danville, Virginia before the baby was found safe there on Friday.
