18-year-old seriously injured in shooting at Wilmington apartment complex

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington Police Department continues its search for suspects after an 18-year-old was seriously injured in a shooting at the Cypress Grove Apartments Monday afternoon.
According to a spokeswoman for the WPD, gunfire erupted at the apartment complex, located just off South 17th Street, around 3:30 p.m.
Amar Montgomery of Wilmington suffered life-threatening injuries during the shooting and was rushed by paramedics to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.
He is expected to survive, the spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
No other details about the shooting have been released.

An 18-year-old male has been transported to NHRMC with life-threatening wounds following a shooting that occurred in the area of Cypress Grove Dr. around 3:25 p.m. Police are investigating.
