WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Fireworks are dazzling displays, but it is important to know how to keep everyone safe in the process.
Dr. Rasika Whitesell with Port City Optometry visited the WECT studio on Monday, July 24, to talk about preventative measures.
She notes the most common injuries seen are with sparklers and recommends using eye protection, especially for children.
If you do get an eye injury, she says to call 911 right away or get to an ER right away and to avoid taking anything out of the eye to avoid causing more damage.
