LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Leland Police Department is reminding the public to lock their cars after 16 vehicle breaking and entering cases were reported in the past 45 days.

Per the LPD, all the cars were left unlocked in these cases, and the cars were in large parking lots like shopping centers and apartment complexes near shopping centers.

The department is urging people to lock up their vehicles because of this; stolen items have included guns, wallets, purses, cash and electronics.
