LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Leland says that a house at the 5600 block of Connifer Court was significantly damaged by a fire on Friday night, Aug. 30.
Per the town, crews responded at around 8:15 p.m. and found heavy flames coming from the home.
The fire was under control after about 30 minutes, and nobody was injured, according to the town.
Officials say the fire was caused by a candle left burning by a pet sitter while they took out the dog for a walk.
Winnabow, Navassa, Northwest, New Hanover and Wilmington crews assisted with the fire.
