HOLDEN BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The Holden Beach commissioners approved adding 72 beach safety stations throughout the entire island.

That would mean a station would be added for every 600 feet around Holden Beach.

The stations would include a QR code for the National Weather Service rip current status, an address sign, an information sign and a rescue tube.

The Tri-Beach Fire Department will maintain and replace damaged stations for now.

The stations will be added by May 26.
