A 9-year-old boy is a sole survivor of an attack that killed the rest of his family members. The Schmidt family was vacationing on the camping grounds at Maquoketa Caves State Park. Police say the family was in a tent when an intruder entered and fatally gunned down 42-year-old Tyler Schmidt, his wife, Sarah, and his 6-year-old daughter. Reports of the shooting prompted authorities to immediately shut down the camp. The suspect’s body was later discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
