RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) – On June 28, Governor Roy Cooper signed five bills into law.

House Bill 233 includes changes to the State Human Resources Commission, such as allowing the office to contact local officials when an entity says it will appoint a person to a position who doesn’t meet the class specifications for the position.

Senate Bill 790 requires the State Bar to give certain information to an attorney when disciplinary action has been recommended to let the attorney address the grievance committee and to implement a conduct standard for people filing grievances before the bar.

House Bill 495 adds definitions for money laundering and clarifies rules regarding placing product codes on items in an attempt to commit fraud.

House Bill 912 authorizes the financing of several capital improvement projects for UNC system schools, including a $97.4 million project to acquire the Seahawk Housing Complex.

House Bill 971 directs the Department of Labor to make human trafficking awareness training, requires hotels and property managers for vacation rentals implement trafficking awareness training, increases the punishment for soliciting a prostitute the first time and makes other changes.
