First Alert Forecast: warmer days are ahead this week

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – TONIGHT: Cloudy, blustery conditions will prevail tonight in the wake of last night’s cold front. Temperatures are forecast to bottom out in the middle 30s by morning under a mainly cloudy sky. Winds gusts between 20-30 MPH will also be possible early on before calmer winds arrive throughout the night.

TUESDAY: We should see most of the clouds clear for Tuesday allowing for brighter skies to return to the area. Even under the sun, temperatures will top out a bit below normal for this time of year with afternoon highs in the middle to upper 50s. Expect it to get chilly again tomorrow night as we tumble back to the 30s.

EXTENDED FORECAST: A gradual warming trend will occur through the rest of the week from southerly flow. High temperatures are forecast to be back in the upper 60s to possibly lower 70s towards late week ahead of our next weather maker. Our next frontal system is on track to swing in from the north by Friday into Friday night bringing our next chance of rain. As of now, most of the shower activity will exit by Saturday as cooler/drier air filters in for the weekend.
