WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The National Hurricane Center forecast cone for Ernesto suggests tropical storm conditions are probable across many of the northern Caribbean islands through midweek, and hurricane conditions are possible for Bermuda by the weekend. Swell from Ernesto is likely to enhance the rip current risk for all Cape Fear and Carolina beaches late this week and this weekend, so watch those flags!
On the freshwater side, the flooded rivers of the Cape Fear Region either have crested or will crest by midweek, and you should expect a slow recession through the weekend. Though rain chances may not quite be zero, they will be a lot lower in the days ahead; this should aid in the healing trend. Expect daily high temperatures in the 80s and pleasant nights in the 60s and 70s through the period.
