First Alert Forecast: slightly cooler but still hot, Beryl nears Texas

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast for Sunday features slightly cooler, but still hot, highs with temperatures peaking in the 90s. It should be noted that heat index values will be in the triple digits, so please stay rested, hydrated, and neighborly. Humidity will be plentiful and sufficient for a few isolated showers and heavy storms. Stay cautious in and around the warm summer surf as rip current risk will be elevated.

Temperatures will remain seasonable with highs near 90 through the week, while lows will reside in the 70s. Rain and storm chances will be a little better towards mid and late week, as Hurricane Beryl and its remnants bypass the Cape Fear to the west.

As for the tropics, aside from Beryl, new tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic is not anticipated within the week.
