First Alert Forecast: passing downpours ahead of a weekend warm up

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast for the weekend remains unsettled as onshore breezes stream ever more tropical moisture into the Cape Fear Region.

Expect passing cells to produce bouts of heavy rainfall & gusty winds, as well as enhanced swells, rip currents and even waterspouts particularly Saturday. Apart from those hazards, you may feel some positives about the weather! For one, more rain clouds favor cooler temperatures in the 70s and 80s versus the 90s. Also, the growing drought should be dented or, at least, stunted.

Once we get past Saturday, a lower, but modest chance for afternoon convective showers & storms will be possible. The heat comes roaring back early next week. As we start the new week, highs will soar back into the lower and middle 90s with a risk of additional Heat Advisories.

Slightly cooler and more unsettled weather makes a return again late next week. Details in your seven-day forecast: http://webpubcontent.gray.tv/wect/MAXSevendayWECT.jpg
