First Alert Forecast: odds for flooding showers to gradually shrink, tropics set to reactivate

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A slow frontal passage will bring two personalities to the Cape Fear weather in the week ahead. Ahead of the front: expect hazy skies, continued intense humidity, medium chances for torrential showers and storms, and an ongoing localized flood threat. Behind the front: the latter parts of the week will have a sorely needed period of low rain odds and you may notice the air feel a little fresher at times.

In the tropics: Potential Tropical Cyclone Five has formed east of the Caribbean islands and is favored to develop into a storm named Ernesto early this week. While its official track is east of the Carolinas, which should preclude direct impacts, odds for ocean swells and dangerous rip currents will likely increase this weekend.
